“There are times when all the world’s asleep
The questions run too deep
For such a simple man
Won’t you please, please tell me what we’ve learned?
I know it sounds absurd
Please tell me who I am…”
— Supertramp
Hello Guys!
My name is Brick Jayne! Or is it? In all seriousness, my name is Eddie Corona. I lived a good deal of my life before the internet was around. When I was younger, my cousins called me Hot Rod. It was my nickname. One of my sisters shortened my nickname, and she called me Rod. I released an autobiography recently. You can purchase it at Lulu.com or you can read a PDF version for free. There are three sections. The first section is called Rod because of the nickname.
I learned recently that Gorillaz is only two guys even though their cartoon music videos feature four band members. And I understand Five For Fighting is only one guy, if I remember correctly. I believe peacocks sprout their feathers so they can look larger to potential predators. A lot of animals do this, if I’m not mistaken. When the internet came around, I was hoping to be in a rock back. I played a little guitar, I liked to sing, and I had a few friends who kicked around the idea. I even wrote songs with a few of them, but we never performed in public. I had TWO bands, as a matter of fact:
– Eddie & the Whistlers
– Locomotive
When I launched my YouTube channel in 2008, I used those band names to associate with music I posted. Why? I suppose to look bigger than I really was. I went solo, eventually, and I used the name “Homer Cocktail” as an individual performer. I want to let you know I had as much fun with it as possible, and I didn’t believe I was putting out high quality work. My attitude wasn’t to pretend I would be played on the radio, though. The very first video posted to YouTube was one of it’s founders filming an elephant in a zoo. It wasn’t anything over-the-top. My attitude about posting was that we’re all cyber neighbors. If you went to college and had a roommate who played some guitar, maybe he wasn’t as good as Eddie Van Halen, but maybe he was good enough to sing a song or two around a campfire. That was my attitude.
I tried to get people to join me, though. I had a tiny bit of success here and there. I won’t go into detail except I kept thinking of the saying, “If you want anything done right, you have to do it yourself.” Well? I went a step further. I didn’t care if it was done right or not. I started thinking, “If you want anything done at all, you have to do it yourself.” I engineered my own music, and I delved into other forms of entertainment.
In 2003 I wrote my first novel, ZoToN. I was happy with it, so I wrote a book a year with the pseudonym Gaud Rockefeller. I did this until 2009, then I took a break for a few years. When I started writing again, I picked a new pseudonym, Brick Jayne. Ergo, you are now at the Brick Jayne Site. I wrote…
– Thermite, 2013
– Kiribati, 2017
– Cretins, 2018
When I got to Cretins, I decided to use my birth name, Eddie Corona. I appreciate you guys out there. I still like to write. I uploaded my autobiography a couple of days ago, and I’m working on a follow up. You can come to this website to track the progress. I’m not trying to be Dean Koontz or Anne Rice. I’m trying to be entertaining, and I still have the same attitude as when I started YouTube.com/homercocktail . I’m just trying to be a decent cyber neighbor.
Sincerely,
Rod/ Eddie/ Gaud Rockefeller/ Homer Cocktail/ Brick Jayne
